Facebook Zero
MTN is now offering their customers free mobile browsing on the new 0.facebook.com site. By sponsoring 0.facebook.com MTN is enabling their customers to stay connected through Facebook with their friends and family from any mobile web browser without incurring any data charges for browsing and texting.
It’s that simple; MTN customers can view Facebook on their mobiles free of charge by logging into Facebook Zero, anywhere at any time.
Facebook's 0.facebook.com site is optimised for speed: it is a new faster, lightweight version of Facebook's mobile site m.facebook.com. The site does not have graphics or photos, and the new pages on 0.facebook.com have been designed for performance on MTN's network. Photos posted on Facebook are only one click away from 0.facebook.com. To view a photo, MTN customers only need to click on a link to the photo, and they will be prompted that they are leaving 0.facebook.com. Standard data charges will apply when a customer leaves 0.facebook.com to view photos.
MTN customers will only get charged when they decide to switch from text-only to multimedia (e.g. view photos from their friends and external links). The customers will be charged for data according to the price plan they are subscribed to.
MTN Zambia wishes to implement the Facebook Zero service for its existing customers to provide convenience and content of a high quality.
A mobile networking service, which is a customer interaction channel will provide a comprehensive entry point for a wealth of information and social networking. It serves as a convergence point for MTN Zambia to supply information, entertainment and networking for MTN customers.
